Empowering Art Educators for Career Excellence

Dear Art Educators,

We are delighted to welcome you to our new virtual hub at www.ArtCPD.com, a dedicated resource for innovative art tutorials, skill-building scaffolds, and a wellspring of guidance and support for all things creative in the classroom. Since our recent launch, we have been thrilled and encouraged by the remarkable response from our global community of art educators, aspiring teachers, and artists involved in residencies and workshops.

Our role as art educators is profoundly unique, nurturing creativity and inspiring young minds. We foster boundless creativity within our classrooms, sowing the seeds for a lifelong love of artistic expression. By instilling confidence, cultivating critical thinking, and offering a canvas for emotional expression, we empower students to explore their emotions and the world through art. Our guidance extends beyond the classroom, promoting cross-disciplinary learning, fostering community through shared projects, and imparting enduring life skills. The personal connections we forge with students and the privilege of witnessing their artistic growth are genuinely exceptional.

Recognizing the dynamic nature of the field, art teachers, require continuous professional development (CPD). The art world evolves with new techniques, technologies, and pedagogical approaches constantly emerging. Engaging in regular CPD ensures that we stay abreast of these developments, integrating the latest knowledge and methodologies into our teaching practices. It also provides opportunities to enhance our own artistic skills and broaden our understanding of different art forms, enriching our ability to inspire and guide students.

A Phenomenal Start:

Our journey started with the release of our inaugural three tutorials, and your response has been nothing short of phenomenal. We have engaged in numerous conversations about materials, techniques, and processes, and we are thrilled to learn that our tutorials are now being employed to enrich classroom experiences and inspire fellow art educators to acquire new skills or rejuvenate existing ones. Here's a quick recap of the tutorials that set the stage:

Skeleton Fish with White Acrylic Paint on Black Card: This tutorial explores contrast, layering and negative space. This step-by-step demonstration uses white acrylic paint on black cardstock to create intricate skeleton fish images.

Watercolor Reduction with animal faces: This tutorial explores the innovative technique of watercolour reduction, an essential part of the watercolour painting process but little used as the main technique to create an artwork. Tremendously versatile this technique focuses on exploring subtle values.

Inky Bubble backgrounds: This tutorial demonstrates the process of creating inky bubbles on paper, a dynamic and experimental technique that students love to explore. Use it to craft texture and captivating backgrounds for future art projects.

What's Next:

The journey has only just begun, and our commitment to delivering exciting content remains unwavering. We are thrilled to announce that our next tutorial, 'Tonal Watercolor Fossils,' is just around the corner. Immerse yourself in the world of tonal contrast and unlock the enchanting potential of watercolors as we guide you through the creation of stunning fossil-like designs. Stay tuned for this immersive and educational experience.
